Perez Morton
Perez Morton
The son of a tavern keeper who climbs the social ladder and becomes a Patriot leader.
Perez Morton was a politician and orator who was a loud voice in favor of independence, even more than a year before the Declaration of Independence was signed. His clear brilliance and forward-thinking, however, are a stark contrast to his moral bankruptcy, which resulted in another’s suicide and his own eventual financial bankruptcy. He proves that political prowess and moral compass do not always go hand-in-hand.
