Crispus Attucks
Although little is known about his life, his death at the Boston Massacre goes down in history.
In the 19th century, abolitionists turned Crispus Attucks into a legend; the first victim of the Boston Massacre and a symbol of Liberty. However, despite much research, virtually nothing is known about the man behind the legend. The memory of Crispus Attucks is an example of the way society uses history to tell the stories it needs to tell, even when the historical facts are uncertain.

- Your ship was in town the evening of the Boston Massacre. You join the crowd and are one of the first to be killed. You are commemorated as the first African American to die in the Revolution.
